Duplicate poker is merely a game of strategy that is popular among strategist groups such as chess players and backgammon players and is less commonly appealing to gamblers. However, it does seem to have some benefits—say good-bye to bad beats. Duplicate poker players play to win based on their poker skills and are never accused of being in the right place with the right hand.
Sound a little different? There’s more. Duplicate poker welcomes table talk, where players openly discuss strategy, make suggestions, and even talk about their hands.
This novel approach to poker is ground-breaking. Dan Goldman, Vice President of Marketing for Duplicate Poker likens the game to online poker and televised poker, as one of the three big things that has happened to poker since the World Series of Poker began. Duplicate Poker is a new way to play an old game and it achieves a new level of scoring, as skill is commended rather than luck.
As the software progresses, developers also rely on advise from the players to solve problems or come to a solution regarding a glitch or complaints from the players.
The Duplicate Poker website is rare for other reasons. Not since 2002, have any U.S. gaming sites accepted major credit cards from U.S. players. This game is legal in the U.S. and has earned the trust of American banks because it is a considered a game of skill, not a game of gambling.
As in all games, you must understand and learn the rules of duplicate poker before you play. So, here’s your Duplicate Poker Rules 101:
At all times, there are an equal amount of two+ tables, with equal amounts of players at each table. Identical decks (shuffled the same) are used to deal both tables, so the players at each corresponding seat, at each table, receive the same hand consistently. With each new hand that is dealt, all players’ chip stacks are evened, so everyone starts out with an equal stack. At the end of each hand, chip stacks are counted, compared with equivalent seats at parallel tables, and the one who holds the most chips wins the hand.
Based on the theory that all hands are capable of being winning hands (it’s the player who misses the win), tournament and session winners are declared by comparing results of identical hands. Thus, the winner is awarded based on his skill, not on whether he was dealt good or bad hands, or got lucky!
Pinhas Romik, founder and president of Duplicate Poker, and championship bridge player, credits bridge for being the original inspiration for duplicate poker. Business-savvy bridge players got together with business-savvy poker players and created DuplicatePoker.com, which is undoubtedly a successful website, though the concept is still new and in the developing stages. Introducing this idea to card players and getting them to appreciate the game is a big piece of the pie that will ultimately allow duplicate poker to take off.
Duplicatepoker.com gives $5 real money to anyone who downloads the software and offers a 100% deposit bonus.
